dc.description.abstract There are increasing concerns related to the neoliberalisation of social, economic and political processes, which are pushing the recently introduced spatial policies and new policy instruments in more market-oriented directions, to the detriment of the built environment. In many cities of the world, owing to the complex dynamics associated with the increasing global and local pressures, urban change takes different forms, with important implications on the resilience of cities. Istanbul is one of the best examples of this, where the different types of urban dynamics that can be experienced simultaneously are being illustrated. This makes Istanbul a good study area for defining how the policies and plans adopted to meet the increasing needs and demands can affect a city’s resilience. tr_TR
