<description>Turkey's fresh fruits and vegetables exports: An econometrical implication
Hence it is not only sufficient to produce fresh vegetables and fruits within the country, it is also crucial to be present in international markets for Turkey. When Turkey's exportation rates of fresh fruit and vegetables are examined it is seen that the exportation rates are not in the expected level. Thus it is an incontrovertible fact that exportation has a crucial effect on economic growth. Present study aims to investigate the causal relationship between fresh vegatable and fruit exportation and economic growth via using quartile data of 2004-2015 of Turkey. After the timeline graphics of data sets are investigated, stability tests were conducted by using augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF), Phillips-Perron (PP) and Kwiatkowski, Phillips, Schmidt, Shin (KPSS) unit root tests, Johansen cointegration test is conducted with VAR analysis. As the resutls of data gained by Johansen cointegration test, it is concluded that there is a long term balanced realtionship between Turkey's real fresh vegetable and fruit export and import and economic growth. Due to the existence of a long term relationship between the variables, it is possible to create a Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). VECM is created via Granger Causality/Block Exogeneity Wald Tests and Pairwise Granger Causality Tests and as a result of these tests it is concluded that there is no short term causal realtionship between real fresh vegetable/fruit export and import and economic growth. After the causal research is conducted, present study investigated impulse-response analysis and variance analysis. According to the results of impulse response analysis it is concluded that economic growth is decreased in parallel to real total fresh vegetable-fruit import whereas it is increased in parallel to real total fresh vegetable-fruit exportation. According to the variance analysis results this growth stem from 60% of growth itself, 23% of real total fresh vegetable-fruit import and 17% of real total fresh vegetable-fruit export. According to the gathered data for the present study, it can be concluded that raising exportation rates of fresh fruit and vegetables is substantial for Turkey. In order to achieve these rates it is important to achieve the quality standards of the countries that are being exported, being able to control and take precautions to minimize the pesticide residue, create a strong and sustainable marketing structure, improve research-development resources and the necessity to increase export incentives in this area.

<title>The impact of Coronavirus pandemic on firms performance in Somalia</title>

<description>The impact of Coronavirus pandemic on firms performance in Somalia
The world experienced several pandemics from the late 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century due to infectious diseases such as Ebola, SARS, avian flu, swine flu, and MERS, but at the macro level, the COVID-19 outbreak caused the worst global recession since 1930, when the economy was barely affected. Since the epidemic of covid-19, a large number of studies from many fields and regions have been conducted. However, the majority of covid-19 studies were undertaken in industrialized nations, whereas researches on covid-19's effects in Africa are far fewer than in other regions. In Somalia, very little research has been conducted on the influence of COVID-19 on firm performance. Therefore, the primary objective of this study is to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on firm performance in terms of financial and non-financial measures. The study collected data from 362 managers in 72 different firms in Hargeisa, Somalia, encompassing three sectors: logistics/ transportation, travel/tourism, and hotels, using an internet platform. Using SPSS 21 software, descriptive statistics were performed to analyze the demographic characteristics of the respondents. Subsequently, a principal component analysis was performed for factor reduction and dimensional groupings. Cronbach's alpha reliability analysis was then performed to test the validity and reliability of the scales employed in the study, then analysis of variance (One-Way ANOVA) was used to compare the differences between and within the groups. Finally, to examine the correlation between variables and test the hypothesis, Pearson correlation and linear regressions were performed. The results of a one-way ANOVA show that there is no statistically significant difference between the group averages of the examined firms, indicating that COVID-19 affects all industries in a similar manner. The empirical study result reveals that the COVID-19 pandemic has a negative effect on the overall performance of the examined firms; similarly, the sub-dimension of the dependent variable, financial performance, also shows a negative impact of the pandemic. Whereas, the study found that the Corona pandemic had no impact on the non-financial performance dimension. In conclusion, the current study suggests that businesses act responsibly, strictly follow international and local health and safety rules, and develop strategies to at least mitigate the impact of potential future pandemics.

<title>The impact of agricultural sector on the development of Turkish economy</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12416/5537</link>
<description>The impact of agricultural sector on the development of Turkish economy
Güvendi, Mehmet Doğa
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the policies which were pursued in Turkish agricultural sector and explore the ways to maximize its export potential. Firstly, a research has been conducted about why agricultural domain has slowed down in Turkey. Then, an analysis has been conducted in the next chapter concerning recovery of the agriculture. This thesis has been written by collating 107 articles and 20 official sources throughout 10 months. Agriculture is really a crucial sector for almost each nation in the world for it contributes to their economic growth. Particularly, agriculture is a segment which economically takes on a crucial role on the expansion and growth of Turkey. Turkey is a fecund country in terms of agricultural activities. It is more dominant than a lot of other nations in this domain due to fertility of her agricultural lands. It is one of the foremost countries that could take advantage of this sector to generate huge benefits from international trade activities. It has plenty of opportunities to boost its exports in the agricultural sector. However, Turkey has undergone a vast recession in the agricultural sphere in recent years due to wrong agricultural policies. It has begun to import these products from abroad instead of exporting them. Especially, fundamental agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilizers and pesticides have started to be imported from abroad. These policies have adversely affected the trade balance, gross domestic product (GDP) and consumer price index. Although Turkey has made progress in some segments of the agriculture, it hasn't been able to achieve an overall growth. This inefficieny increases current deficit in the agricultural sector. As a result, Turkey urgently needs radical changes and reforms to make agricultural sector more profitable again and minimize its trade deficit. Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry needs to decide what is to be planned and amount of subsidy that will be given to farmers one year in advance. Findings have denoted that 8,18% of GDP affected import and export amounts of agricultural products toward development of Turkish economy as part of empirical study in my dissertation. In addition, modern and organic agricultural practices should be carried out in order to contribute to revitalization of the agrarian sphere.; Bu tezin amacı Türkiye'nin tarım sektöründe izlenen politikarı analiz etmek ve ve potansiyeli artırmak için yollar keşfetmektir.

<title>The effect of foreign direct investment inflows on the economic performance in Somalia</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12416/5002</link>
<description>The effect of foreign direct investment inflows on the economic performance in Somalia
Mayow, Maria Aweis
Bu nedenle, Somali'nin bu faktörlerin ortamını iyileştirmesi de aynı şekilde tavsiye edilmektedir.; Somalia is promoting herself as a viable investment destination in Sub Saharan Africa. Despite the long period of instability and conflicts, businesses are booming in Somalia today. Recently, Somalia woke up to join the rest of the world to start attracting FDI as one of the routes to economic progress. The need to rebuild the economy is pushing Somalia to find development capital which is the driving force behind the push for FDI inflows to Somalia. The present study has examined the concept of international business and it investigated the effect of inward FDI to Somalia's economic growth and development. Empirical evidence indicates that FDI has both a short run and long run positive effect on economic growth in Somalia. It is therefore recommended that inward FDI should be further encouraged into Somalia, by providing incentives to the investors, since it has economic and social value for the country. Other factors that were part of the study model, included exports, domestic investment, labor and inflation. Except for Inflation, all other factors turned to have a positive effect on economic growth in Somalia. Hence, it is equally recommended that Somalia should improve the environment of those factors.
